Wifes parents are in a bad way.

my wife's parents are in a bad way.

she went to visit and her mother has alzheimer and father has a hart condition.

they are jws and he quit his job at gm many years ago for 1975. he moved to where the need was great to wait for the end.

As CovertsadJW said, only do what you can.

My mother doesn't really fully appreciate what we are doing. As a JW, she would be shunning us right now if it weren't for the fact she's been living in a rat infested hoarder house and her "spiritual" children wouldn't even set foot in it. So even tho I know this, they are still people that need help. My father isn't a JW and is in the worse shape after having a fall. So cleaning the interior has been ramped up so that he can come home hopefully. This has taken up alot of our free time and involved cleaning really nasty stuff.

We are at the point tho, that some outside help is going to be looked at.

There are others here that have had the same experience. Hope that you can find a solution.

I'm sorry, it's difficult to deal with old age and infirmities along with money problems.

Some of the solution would be for the sister to earn money as well as the daughter. But there is probably something I don't know about so it's just a shot in the dark on that.

I and my sister, are dealing with old parents that are mentally going downhill. Almost a year ago, we started a cleanup outside the house. Most of the work was done by the "apostate" side of the family which included my sister's husband. The other side wimped along.

I think on a human level its good to help, but only give what you can and that can mean different things to so many people. I would sit down and figure out what is reasonable.

hi everyone, this is my first post.

i studied the bible weekly with a wonderful jw.

i suddenly stopped because things just seemed to be getting stranger.

Yeah, you've probably been discussed with several other sisters at the hall. Having a bible study gets them very excited. Mostly because there isn't many of the general public that will study with them.

So if you stopped studying with them, your conductor wants help in finding you home. So other witnesses if they are in the area, know about you and want to "encourage" you. If you had shown a greater interest in the sister that smiled at you, she may well have gotten out of her car to talk to you.

If you don't want them to pursue you, sometimes just saying no, might work. But then, your conductor will probably keep you in mind and stop in occasionally to try to convince you to study again. If you do a little research into the Australian Royal Commission case 29 Jehohvahs Witnesses on youtube, you will see how the JW organization doesn't report child sexual abuse to the police. Which lets the pedophile have the opportunity to molest again in the congregation, as well as children in the neighborhood - all without the police or the parents knowing.

The property money: confront them with it

with all the jevanka story's at the moment, i got this morning the bad perception that jw.org is playing nice guy with al this maffia money that they got selling their property in brooklyn.. money earned by the buyers with bad deals, political tricks and maffia connected asshole's.. this money is funding all the nice multimedia at conventions and broadcasting.. maybe a nice topic to discuss at the jw chart at the streets on our towns.. follow the money.

it's all about money.. confronting them with this dirty money laundry is a strong argument.. what do you think about this???.

I tried talking about how much money they got at the assemblies etc. to a witness. Also if the kingdom halls were sold even tho the congregation had used their money to buy it. They just shrugged their shoulders and said "It's all Jehovahs money anyway" They trust the GB is honest and would never "steal" from God. I know I believed that for most of my life.

neat blue dog - I agree. If you can help just a little for one person, it might spread to others too. In the long run, who knows what might it accomplish?

Nothing for me. If they really aren't interested in escaping, then nothing I say will help them. I just feel for them as people.

so i have been awake since about this time in 2013, so about 5 years.

and the craziest thing about it is that now, no one, and i mean no one know's i am an apostate.

meaning, that i don't believe the jw minds set/beliefs at all, and no one knows it.

I probably would have looked like a zombie too, but that is because I kept my thoughts to myself. Some go out with a bang! over a big issue, but many just collect (like me) pieces of the puzzle that doesn't make sense. Then one day, the last piece falls in and you leave.

Whenever there are videos for upcoming conventions, I'll try to work the main theme into a conversation with them. Since they haven't seen the videos, they don't know that I'm "priming the pump" by putting a realistic spin on the info in them. So that when they do see the vids, there might be a hmmm? moment.

The WT does this themselves. All the questions and accusations that sincere JW's (and ex JW's) send or phone into them, are examined. Are ex Jw's convincing the still in's that there is something wrong and it bothered their conscience? An article comes out telling all the regular JW's that following their own conscience is bad, you can't trust it but you can trust the GB's conscience. So the WT effectively strikes first, priming the JW mind to reject a reasonable argument.

So I decided that one stone after the other, can make a bridge. And if I can strike first by using the vids that people leak here, I will.

Has anyone else tried this?
